What our engineers handle on Windows Server
This is the hands-on work, done by a person: the jobs the automatic tools cannot do for you.
- 1Apply Windows Update on an agreed schedule and handle the restarts with you
- 2Harden RDP: Network Level Authentication, limited source addresses, account lockout, no default Administrator
- 3Check Windows Defender, the firewall and the services your applications need
- 4Set up backups (Windows Server Backup or your own tool) and test a restore
Problems we fix
Problem
The server is being brute-forced over RDP
What we do
We restrict who can reach RDP, enable lockout and NLA, move access behind a VPN or an allow-list and review the event log for anything that got in.
Problem
Windows Update is stuck or fails with an error code
What we do
We read the update log, clear the cause (component store, a stuck service, disk space) and get updates installing again.
Problem
An IIS site returns 500 or the application pool keeps stopping
What we do
We read the IIS and event logs, fix the identity, permissions or configuration, and set recycling so it stays up.
Automatic tools, and our team for the rest
RootManage is automatic server management with every tool in one place. The tools run by themselves on a schedule and report to one dashboard. Everything they cannot do, and every emergency, is handled by our engineers by hand.
Automatic
Checked on a schedule we agree
Manual, by our engineers
Everything else, and every emergency
- Hands-on work. Fixes, tuning, migrations, upgrades and the other jobs listed above on this page.
- Emergency work. A hacked site, an outage or a failed update is handled by a person who investigates and fixes it, not by a script.
- Things we do not automate. Anything the tools do not cover is done by hand, over SSH, WHM or RDP, on a login you can remove at any time.
The Linux monitoring agents do not run on it, so an engineer checks it directly over RDP or SSH on the schedule we agree with you.
The tools are optional, run on Linux servers and are installed by you with one command each. Every job our team does is recorded as a task in your dashboard with the details, and you get an email when it is updated.
How it works
- 1
Sign up
Create an account, choose a plan and add the server you want managed.
- 2
Give access
We connect over RDP or SSH on a login you create, and you can remove it whenever you like.
- 3
Automatic, with people behind it
An engineer checks the server on the schedule we agree and does the hands-on work. You follow every task in your dashboard.
Questions about Windows Server
Do the Linux monitoring agents run on Windows?
No. The RootManage agents are for Linux. Windows servers are managed over RDP by an engineer, and we agree what to check and when.
Do you provide Windows licences?
No. Windows and SQL Server licences stay with you or your provider. We manage the servers you already license.
What does it cost to have Windows Server managed?
Managed plans start at ₹1,999 a month for one server, and Windows Server is managed as part of the server. The pricing page lists what each plan includes. If a server is already infected, the emergency cleanup is a one-time ₹9,000 job.
