Lost data on a server? Stop. Then talk to us first

We copy the disk, work on the copy, and tell you what can come back. The original is never touched. We do not promise results we cannot be sure of.

  • Linux and Windows servers
  • We work on a copy of the disk
  • Honest about what is possible
  • Your data stays private

Pick your system

Each system has its own tools and its own limits.

Where we can help

Software problems on disks that can still be read.

Deleted files or folders

A user or a script removed files by mistake. The sooner you stop writing to the disk, the better the chance.

Server will not start or mount

After a power cut or a crash the filesystem is damaged, or a disk or partition does not mount.

Broken RAID or LVM

A disk dropped out, the array will not assemble, or the volume group is missing.

Lost partition or wrong disk wiped

A partition table was overwritten, or the wrong disk was formatted.

Hacked or encrypted server

Files were deleted or locked by an attacker. We look for what can be brought back and what cannot.

Database or website files lost

A dropped database, an overwritten site folder, or a backup that will not restore.

How we work

The same careful order every time.

01

Stop writing to the disk

Every new file can overwrite the data you want back. Stop the apps that write, and do not reinstall or run a repair on the original disk.

02

You tell us what happened

The system, the disk type, what was lost, and when. We reply by email with the next step.

03

We make a copy first

On a Linux or Windows server we copy the disk to an image and do the recovery work on the copy. The original stays as it is.

04

We look for your data

We check snapshots, shadow copies and backups first, then the filesystem, then a scan of the free space for deleted files.

05

We tell you what we found

You get a list of what can be recovered. You check it and say what you want.

06

We hand it back safely

Recovered files are sent over a secure link or copied to a place you choose. We delete our working copies when you confirm.

The tools we use

Well-known tools, used on a copy of your disk.

Linux

ddrescue, TestDisk, PhotoRec, extundelete and ext4magic, xfs_repair and fsck, mdadm for RAID, and LVM metadata restore.

Windows

Shadow copies and Previous Versions, Windows File Recovery, TestDisk and PhotoRec, DMDE, and chkdsk on a copy.

Do this first

  • Stop the apps and users that write to the disk.
  • Do not install recovery software on the disk you want to recover.
  • Do not run a repair, a format or a reinstall on the original.
  • If the disk makes noise or is not detected, switch it off.

Data recovery: your questions answered

Can you promise to get my data back?

No. Nobody can. If the data has been overwritten it is gone. We tell you honestly what looks possible once we have looked at a copy of the disk.

What should I do right now?

Stop using the disk. Do not install anything on it, do not run a repair on the original, and do not restart a failing disk again and again. Then write to us.

Do you recover physically damaged disks?

No. If the disk clicks, is not detected, or smells burnt, switch it off. That needs a clean-room lab. We can tell you what to ask for. We work on disks that can still be read.

Will you work on my original disk?

No. We copy first and work on the copy, so a mistake cannot make things worse.

Which systems do you handle?

Linux and Windows servers, VPS, dedicated and cloud, with ext4, XFS, NTFS, RAID and LVM, with or without cPanel.

Is my data private?

We only open what is needed to find your files, we do not keep copies after you confirm, and we only use access you give for this job.

Could this have been avoided?

Usually yes: a recent backup that is checked by a restore test is the best protection. Our backup and monitoring services are made for that.

Lost something important?

Send the system, what was lost and when. We reply with the next step.
