What our engineers handle on FreeBSD
This is the hands-on work, done by a person: the jobs the automatic tools cannot do for you.
- 1Apply freebsd-update and pkg updates, and upgrade between releases step by step
- 2Manage ZFS pools: scrubs, snapshots, replication and disk health alerts
- 3Configure pf rules and jails for the services that run
- 4Check backups and test a restore from a snapshot or a replicated copy
Problems we fix
Problem
A ZFS pool reports a degraded disk
What we do
We read the pool status, replace or resilver the failed disk, run a scrub and confirm the pool is healthy again.
Problem
pkg upgrade fails with conflicts or missing libraries
What we do
We repair the package database, rebuild what depends on the changed libraries and confirm services start.
Problem
A jail cannot reach the network
What we do
We check the interface, pf rules and jail configuration, correct the routing or NAT and test from inside the jail.
Automatic tools, and our team for the rest
RootManage is automatic server management with every tool in one place. The tools run by themselves on a schedule and report to one dashboard. Everything they cannot do, and every emergency, is handled by our engineers by hand.
Automatic
Checked on a schedule we agree
Manual, by our engineers
Everything else, and every emergency
- Hands-on work. Fixes, tuning, migrations, upgrades and the other jobs listed above on this page.
- Emergency work. A hacked site, an outage or a failed update is handled by a person who investigates and fixes it, not by a script.
- Things we do not automate. Anything the tools do not cover is done by hand, over SSH, WHM or RDP, on a login you can remove at any time.
The Linux monitoring agents do not run on it, so an engineer checks it directly over RDP or SSH on the schedule we agree with you.
The tools are optional, run on Linux servers and are installed by you with one command each. Every job our team does is recorded as a task in your dashboard with the details, and you get an email when it is updated.
How it works
- 1
Sign up
Create an account, choose a plan and add the server you want managed.
- 2
Give access
We connect over RDP or SSH on a login you create, and you can remove it whenever you like.
- 3
Automatic, with people behind it
An engineer checks the server on the schedule we agree and does the hands-on work. You follow every task in your dashboard.
Questions about FreeBSD
Do the RootManage agents run on FreeBSD?
The agents are built for Linux distributions. FreeBSD servers are managed over SSH, and we agree the checks and alerts we will run for you.
Can you set up ZFS replication to another machine?
Yes. We set up scheduled snapshots and replication to a second host and test restoring a dataset from it.
What does it cost to have FreeBSD managed?
Managed plans start at ₹1,999 a month for one server, and FreeBSD is managed as part of the server. The pricing page lists what each plan includes. If a server is already infected, the emergency cleanup is a one-time ₹9,000 job.
