AlmaLinux server management in India

AlmaLinux is the community successor many hosting teams moved to after CentOS Linux ended, and it is a supported base for cPanel and WHM. It is binary compatible with RHEL, so it is stable, but it still needs regular updates, sensible SELinux and firewall settings, and a plan for major-version upgrades. RootManage handles that for AlmaLinux servers with or without a control panel.

Versions: AlmaLinux 8, 9 and 10. Earlier releases are reviewed case by case.

What our engineers handle on AlmaLinux

This is the hands-on work, done by a person: the jobs the automatic tools cannot do for you.

  1. 1Run dnf updates and kernel updates, and schedule the reboots with you
  2. 2Keep SELinux enforcing and fix denials properly instead of switching it off
  3. 3Configure firewalld (or CSF on cPanel servers) and SSH hardening
  4. 4Migrate CentOS 7 servers to AlmaLinux with the ELevate tooling, or rebuild on a clean server

Problems we fix

Problem

SELinux blocks a service after an update

What we do

We read the audit log, add the narrow policy or boolean the service needs and keep SELinux enforcing.

Problem

A cPanel server is on an OS version cPanel no longer supports

What we do

We plan the move to a supported AlmaLinux release, usually by building a new server and transferring accounts, so sites stay online.

Problem

dnf reports conflicts after enabling third-party repos

What we do

We find the conflicting repository, set priorities or remove it, and get the system back to a consistent package set.

Automatic tools, and our team for the rest

RootManage is automatic server management with every tool in one place. The tools run by themselves on a schedule and report to one dashboard. Everything they cannot do, and every emergency, is handled by our engineers by hand.

Manual, by our engineers

Everything else, and every emergency

  • Hands-on work. Fixes, tuning, migrations, upgrades and the other jobs listed above on this page.
  • Emergency work. A hacked site, an outage or a failed update is handled by a person who investigates and fixes it, not by a script.
  • Things we do not automate. Anything the tools do not cover is done by hand, over SSH, WHM or RDP, on a login you can remove at any time.

The RootManage monitoring agents are built for this system and install with one command from your dashboard.

The tools are optional, run on Linux servers and are installed by you with one command each. Every job our team does is recorded as a task in your dashboard with the details, and you get an email when it is updated.

How it works

  1. 1

Create an account, choose a plan and add the server you want managed.

  2. 2

    Install the tools

Run one command per tool. They then work by themselves and report to your dashboard. For hands-on work you give us a login you can remove at any time.

  3. 3

    Automatic, with people behind it

The tools watch, scan and back up automatically and alert you. Our engineers do the rest by hand and handle every emergency, and you follow each task in your dashboard.

Questions about AlmaLinux

Is AlmaLinux a good choice for cPanel?

Yes. AlmaLinux is one of the operating systems cPanel supports, and it is what we most often set up for new cPanel servers. We can also manage servers that are already on CloudLinux or Rocky Linux.

Can you convert my CentOS server to AlmaLinux?

For CentOS 7 we use the ELevate in-place path when the server is simple enough, and build a fresh server when it is not. Either way we take a full backup first and test before cutting over.

What does it cost to have AlmaLinux managed?

Managed plans start at ₹1,999 a month for one server, and AlmaLinux is managed as part of the server. The pricing page lists what each plan includes. If a server is already infected, the emergency cleanup is a one-time ₹9,000 job.
