What our engineers handle on openSUSE and SLES
This is the hands-on work, done by a person: the jobs the automatic tools cannot do for you.
- 1Apply zypper patches and plan service restarts and reboots
- 2Use snapper and Btrfs snapshots so a bad update can be rolled back
- 3Keep AppArmor profiles and firewalld settings in line with the applications
- 4Check backups and test a restore
Problems we fix
Problem
A patch run leaves a service broken
What we do
We look at the snapper history, roll back to the snapshot or fix the service, and then re-apply the patch with the cause removed.
Problem
The root filesystem is full even though little data is stored
What we do
We check Btrfs snapshot usage, prune old snapshots safely, balance if needed and set limits so it does not recur.
Problem
AppArmor stops an application from reading its files
What we do
We read the audit log, adjust the profile narrowly and keep confinement on.
Automatic tools, and our team for the rest
RootManage is automatic server management with every tool in one place. The tools run by themselves on a schedule and report to one dashboard. Everything they cannot do, and every emergency, is handled by our engineers by hand.
Automatic
Checked on a schedule we agree
Manual, by our engineers
Everything else, and every emergency
- Hands-on work. Fixes, tuning, migrations, upgrades and the other jobs listed above on this page.
- Emergency work. A hacked site, an outage or a failed update is handled by a person who investigates and fixes it, not by a script.
- Things we do not automate. Anything the tools do not cover is done by hand, over SSH, WHM or RDP, on a login you can remove at any time.
We manage it over SSH. The agent installers are built for the Linux distributions listed in the agent guide, so we confirm which agents fit your server before installing anything.
The tools are optional, run on Linux servers and are installed by you with one command each. Every job our team does is recorded as a task in your dashboard with the details, and you get an email when it is updated.
How it works
- 1
Sign up
Create an account, choose a plan and add the server you want managed.
- 2
Give access
We connect over RDP or SSH on a login you create, and you can remove it whenever you like.
- 3
Automatic, with people behind it
An engineer checks the server on the schedule we agree and does the hands-on work. You follow every task in your dashboard.
Questions about openSUSE and SLES
Do you support SUSE Linux Enterprise with a subscription?
Yes. The subscription stays with you. We work on the servers it covers and keep registration and repositories healthy.
Can you move a server from openSUSE to another distribution?
Yes. We plan it as a migration to a new server, move the data and configuration, test and then switch over.
What does it cost to have openSUSE and SLES managed?
Managed plans start at ₹1,999 a month for one server, and openSUSE and SLES is managed as part of the server. The pricing page lists what each plan includes. If a server is already infected, the emergency cleanup is a one-time ₹9,000 job.
