About Backup agent
The Backup agent copies your databases and files off the server every night. The database is dumped first so the copy is consistent, then the files are copied with a low priority. You can use storage included in your plan or your own SFTP or S3 box.
What it does
- Backup at 02:00 IST every night: database dump first, then files
- Storage on our box or on your own SFTP or S3 destination
- Lists snapshots and restores files when you need them
- Runs with a low priority
What it does not do
- It does not restore anything by itself
- A backup on the same server is not a backup: the agent sends it elsewhere
Schedule: Every night at 02:00 IST
How it updates
The agent can update itself and checks during its nightly run.
sudo rootmanage-backup --self-updateBackup agent version history
- v1.0.0New
Backup agent launched
Nightly backups of your databases and files, sent off the server.
What changed
- A backup at 02:00 IST every night: databases are dumped first, then files, with a low priority
- Storage on our storage box, or your own SFTP or S3 destination
- Lists snapshots and restores files on request
- Updates itself and can be updated with rootmanage-backup --self-update
How it affects you
- Backups are off the server, so a failed disk or a hack does not take the copies with it
What to do. Install it with the command from your dashboard. Save your storage details first if your plan uses your own box.
