Honest comparison

RootManage vs your hosting company's support

Your hosting company keeps the hardware and network running. Managed support looks after what runs on your server. Many people think one plan gives both. This page shows where the line usually is.

Updated October 2026For VPS, dedicated, cloud and cPanel servers

The short answer

Your host looks after the data centre and the machine. Managed support looks after the software, the security and the backups on it. If your plan is unmanaged, the second part is yours or it is not done.

Who should choose what

Host support may be enough if…

  • Your host sells a fully managed plan that covers the software too.
  • You or your team already run the server well.
  • Your need is only hardware and network.

Choose RootManage if…

  • You rent an unmanaged VPS, dedicated or cPanel server and need someone for the software.
  • You want one team across several providers.
  • You want a security and backup process you can see.
  • You want help when something is hacked or slow.

Who applies operating system and control panel updates?

  4. 4

If my site is hacked, will you clean it, or only suspend it?

  5. 5

What is the response time for a ticket, and is it the same at night?

  6. 6

Can I move to another plan or host without losing data?

Frequently asked questions

Does my hosting plan already include server management?

Read the plan carefully. "Managed" can mean hardware and network only, or it can include updates, backups and security. Ask your host what exactly is covered and what you must do yourself.

Can RootManage manage a server at my current host?

Yes. We work with servers at any provider, so you can keep your host and add managed support.

Will you replace my hosting company?

No. You keep your host for the hardware and network. We look after the software on top of it.

Does it work for dedicated servers and cloud servers?

Yes. We look after VPS, dedicated, cloud and cPanel servers, Linux or Windows.

What if my host already offers a "managed" plan?

Compare what is written in the plan. If it covers updates, security, backups and fast help for your software, you may not need us. If it covers only hardware and network, managed support fills the gap.
